Banka Slovenije is the central bank of Slovenia and part of the Eurosystem. Its website, bsi.si, was rebuilt at Futura DDB: a new structure, current figures on the homepage and reports that can be read as web pages.

I was the UX/UI lead on this project at Futura DDB, where I was Head of Digital from 2022 to 2024. I led the design of its structure, its navigation and its screens.
The institution
Banka Slovenije was founded in 1991 and has been part of the Eurosystem since Slovenia adopted the euro in 2007. It sets monetary policy with the other euro area central banks, supervises banks, issues cash, runs payment systems and publishes the country’s financial statistics.
One website has to serve all of that at once: a person checking the exchange rate, a bank looking up a regulation, a journalist, an analyst after a time series. The old site kept everything inside six menu sections, several levels deep.

The structure
The new site has two ways in. One button opens the whole structure, sorted by what the bank does: monetary policy, supervision, cash, statistics and the rest. Beside it, a short row asks who you are: an individual, a business, a customer of the bank or the media.
Legislation from every area of the bank’s work was gathered in one place. Inner pages carry a breadcrumb, and search is offered in the header, in the menu and on the homepage.

Data, reports and the phone
The homepage shows three sets of current figures side by side: inflation, the ECB interest rates and exchange rates, each with its date. They are connected to the bank’s data. Reports can be read as web pages with a table of contents, or downloaded as PDF.
On a phone the header moves to the bottom of the screen: the logo, search and the menu button. The menu opens over the whole screen and goes one level at a time, with search at the top and the language switch at the bottom.
